Kristine and Bruce | Engagement Photos in Nuuanu

Nuʻuanu, Honolulu

I grew up in Nuʻuanu Valley and would spend many summer days playing in the Nuʻuanu Stream and the waterfalls along the Judd Trail. The stream and bamboo forest always seemed like such a magical place. The way the sunlight would cast the slightest rays of light through the canopy is beautiful.

Kristine and Bruce were visiting from Chicago and excited to celebrate their engagement with a fun photo shoot in Hawaiʻi. I was equally excited because they were looking for “somewhere non-beach”. So we ventured up to the mountains and walked through the cool of the Nuʻuanu Stream. The early morning light was perfect and we had a lot of fun traipsing through the bamboo forest.

Sequeira | Stunning Engagement Photos During Sunset

We started out the evening with some family photos on the beach. The typical “we are on a vacation in Hawaiʻi” photos. And while we were all set up for photos, we decided for a quick wardrobe change and switched into engagement photo gear. I think the timing of the evening was perfect as the setting sun gave us some great colors and light to work with.

Chris and Shelly | Proposal on the North Shore

Romantic Beach Get-Away

Chris had planned a romantic vacation for his girlfriend, and promised that it would be a trip to remember. And with the proposal he was planning, it definitely was. We had picked out Papaʻiloa Beach on the North Shore as the location for his proposal because it is a very beautiful beach. It is a fairly secluded beach and a perfect spot for the sunset with the Koʻolau Mountains and Waiʻanae Mountains as backdrops.

Neyva and Elezaldy | Engagement at Kailua Beach

Kailua Beach, Kailua

Neyva came to visit her fiance while he was stationed in Honolulu and thought it would be a perfect opportunity to have their engagement photos taken. She fell in love with Kailua Beach and really wanted to have her photos taken at that location - which posed a slight problem. Kailua Beach is very popular and half-naked sunbathers don't make the most attractive background objects. In the end, we were able to find some great spots for their romantic beach photos and we were all thrilled with the way that their photos turned out.

Hallie and Christopher | Engagement at Waiʻalae Beach Park

Waiʻalae Beach Park, Waiʻalae

Hallie booked her flight from Mississippi to visit her boyfriend who has been stationed here in the Army. Little did she know that upon arrival, Christopher had bigger plans for her time here. After a surprise proposal, we scheduled an engagement photo session. I absolutely love how fun they were to work with. Just look at our photos from their session. So in love with nothing but the rest of their lives ahead.

Tina and Ola Engagement Session

Hoʻomaluhia Botanical Gardens, Kāneʻohe

Earlier this month, I just wrapped on another great photo session from our Christmas, 12 Days of Giving promotion - a free engagement session and complimentary hair and makeup by Reveal Hair and Makeup.

Tina and Ola are both from the east side of Oʻahu and wanted to have their engagement photos taken with the majestic Koʻolau mountains as their backdrop. It rains often in Kāneʻohe, so any photo session on this side of the island will most likely be partly cloudy with a chance of showers. This didn't deter our photography plans, however it did create a very magical setting.

Mahalo to Allison and her team at Reveal Hair and Makeup for making this amazing photo session happen.

Loriann & Shannon Engagement

Cruising in Kewalo

We spent an afternoon last month with couple Loriann Yukihiro and Shannon Silva down at Kewalo. Two surfers who met in the waves, cruising down at one of their favorite surf spots. And although the waves were big and the conditions were great, they ended up staying dry with me and the camera.
